Japan's Metaplanet Buys 160 More Bitcoins, Bringing Total Holdings to 4,206 BTC

Metaplanet Inc., a listed company in Japan, announced on April 2, 2025, the purchase of 160 more Bitcoins, bringing its total holdings to 4,206 BTC. The transaction was executed at an average price of 12.49 million yen (approximately $80,063) per Bitcoin, for a total cost of 1.998 billion yen (approximately $13.39 million).

Bitcoin Accumulation Strategy
In the first quarter of 2025, Metaplanet purchased a total of 696 BTC through the sale of cash-backed Bitcoin put options. Specifically, 50 BTC came from premiums and 645.74 BTC from options exercise, for a total cost of 10.152 billion yen ($91.7 million). The company continues to raise capital from investors to fund further purchases.

Fundraising and Additional Purchase Plans
On March 31, Metaplanet raised 2 billion yen ($13.22 million) through its 10th regular bond issuance, all of which will be used to purchase additional Bitcoin. Since adopting a Bitcoin-focused strategy, Metaplanet's stock has increased by more than 3,000%, indicating strong interest from investors.

Long-Term Goals
Metaplanet aims to hold 21,000 BTC by 2026, with plans to surpass 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025, cementing its position as Asia’s largest Bitcoin holder.
